Privacy policy

Your photos and chats stay on your phone. The only time anything leaves it is when you order a printed book, send us an email, or choose to put your videos on your own Google Drive.

What stays on your phone

The WhatsApp chats you send to LelloBook, their photos and videos, and everything you do with them (sorting, choosing photos, designing pages, making PDFs) stay inside the app on your phone. The automatic sorting of photos runs on your phone too. We never see your chats or photos, and we never upload them anywhere.

Deleting a chat or a book in the app deletes it from your phone. Deleting the app deletes everything it kept (PDFs you saved to your phone's Downloads or Files stay there until you delete them).

When you order a printed book

To print your book, the app sends the finished book (its pages and covers, as a PDF) to our printing partner. Nothing else from the app is sent: not the rest of the chat, not the photos you left out. The book file is deleted once your book has shipped (and in any case within 60 days).

You pay on a secure page run by Stripe, our payment company. There you enter your name, delivery address, email, phone number and card. Stripe handles the payment (we never see your card number) and passes your name, address, email and phone number to us, and we pass them to our printing partner so they can deliver the book. We keep a short record of each order (book name, size, number of pages, price, your email, tracking number) to answer questions about it and for our accounts.

Stripe and our printing partner use this information only to take the payment and to print and deliver your book. Stripe's own privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

Video codes (only if you choose them)

A video in your book can print as a code that plays it when scanned. If you choose this, the app asks you to sign in to your own Google Drive and uploads the book's videos there, into a folder called "LelloBook videos". Each video is shared as "anyone with the link", so people holding your printed book can watch it. The videos are yours, in your Drive; we never receive them. The app may only see the files it put there. You can delete them in Google Drive at any time (their codes will then stop working). Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

Feedback and problem reports

If you tap "Feedback" and send us an email, we get what that email holds: your words, your email address, and, for a problem report, the app version, your phone model and system version, free space, and a short list of the app's last steps and error messages. It never contains your photos, chat text, or chat or people's names. You see exactly what will be sent before you send it. We use it only to fix problems and improve LelloBook.

What we don't do

Other small things

To show prices, the app asks our service for the current price list (no personal information is sent). On Android, the app checks for a new version of itself when you open it.

LelloBook is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you (usually: an order record and any emails you sent), or ask us to delete it, by writing to Lello@lellobook.com. We'll delete what we're not required to keep by law (for example, records of a sale for tax purposes).

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
